Levi van Veluw
The Relativity of Matter
Exhibition at Marres, Maastricht

4 October 2015 – 17 January 2016

For a full year, Levi van Veluw worked with Marres on The Relativity of Matter, a 350m2 installation that completely transformed two floors of the historic house of Marres. Once the doors closed, visitors encountered dark corridors, strange rooms, moods, and colours, all of which will put their senses to the test. Van Veluw’s themes of fear, loneliness, and loss of control were explored for the first time in an all-encompassing installation, enabling him to traverse disciplinary boundaries and create an immersive scenographic experience.

The Relativity of Matter was a collaborative project with the artist. For this installation, a successful crowdfunding campaign was launched. Additional support was given by Fonds 21, the Mondrian fund and The Creative Industries fund. Due to its enormous success, the exhibition was extended with two months.
