Art feeds the Senses
This inspiration book, launched at the re-opening of the Zeeuws Museum, pleas for a museum of the senses. It details the plans, projects and thought process that guided the museum’s renovation and comments on a series of museum conventions pertaining to, among other things, labelling objects, presenting collections, dealing with commerce and thinking about architecture. In addition, the book reflects on the making of masterpieces, the promotion of regional identities and the future of folklore. The new museum, it argues, needs to become a cultural producer, using its collections as the raw materials for the cultural heritage of the future. The Zeeuws Museum won the European Council’s Museum Prize in 2009.
